Swiss-grade privacy and the best free tier in the business
5 out of 5 starsJulianne SterlingI use the entire Proton suite, but the VPN is the standout. Being based in Switzerland gives me huge peace of mind regarding data laws. Their "Secure Core" architecture is genius—it routes my traffic through hardened servers in privacy-friendly countries before hitting the exit node. I also have to mention that their free version is the only one I trust; no ads, no data limits, and no selling your info. It's a very ethical company that happens to make a world-class product.
NetShield is a godsend for browsing

The app interface is sleek, professional, and full of useful data like server load and real-time speed graphs.
Fast and transparent, though Secure Core can be slow
4 out of 5 starstech_architect_82The WireGuard implementation here is fantastic, and I love that all their apps are open-source and audited. It's the most transparent VPN on the market. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 only because the Secure Core feature, while very safe, does tank my speeds by about 60%. If you need raw speed, stick to their standard "Plus" servers, which are blazingly fast and handle 4K streaming without a hiccup.
